Register at http://rsvp.nylug.org/ or http://www.meetup.com/nylug-meetings/ Sam Boyer - on - Bringing Git to Drupal: The fun kind of pain A history of the eight-month long, highly intensive project to convert the entire Drupal project (some 12,000 projects/repositories and as many contributing developers) from CVS to Git. This was one of the largest such conversions ever done on an open source project. It was quite an effort, both socially and technically, and there were a lot of lessons learned and mistakes made along the way. I'll share as many of those as I can pack in. Among other sundry bits, I'll explain why we *didn't* just move to GitHub. More Information: * Git http://git-scm.com/ * Drupal http://drupal.org/ * Migrating Drupal to Git http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/git About Sam Boyer: Sam Boyer was the lead on the conversion to Git and has continued as the Git administrator for the Drupal project. He also maintains several popular contributions to Drupal itself. Sam is a web back-end engineer with an interest in scalable and distributed systems, and has also taken to devops and automation work in the past couple years.
