What I see is the jagged characters, but I'm not getting her problem.

Han-Wen> What kind of printer does she have? (what resolution?)
I asked her that, too, and she didn't know. But she prints out other
stuff (including the music I produce with abc2ps) without complaining
about it.
Han-Wen> At what resolution did you generate the PDF file?
I think it's 600.
Han-Wen> Which version of ghostscript did you use?
I was using 5.5, but have now upgraded to 7.0.
Han-Wen> The best way to generate PDF is to use Type-1 fonts (they were posted

I'd rather not use the type-1 fonts until they get officially
maintained. Especially with Jurgen doing so much work with the
ancient fonts -- I don't want to not notice that there's a symbol
missing.
I have hooked my printer up to a windows box, and I don't see a
problem with the printouts, either from gs 5.5 or gs 7.0, so I conclude
that it's something about her setup. I was worried that every windows
user was going to get fuzzy printouts, but this doesn't seem to be the
case, so I'll let her try to deal with it. Since I actually see her
frequently, if I end up having to print things for her it's not a big
problem.
