You probably want to swap these -- but that's not a major issue.
the results seems much the same (just started gnucash again, no new make ?
Well, you need to at least install the modified file. You don't need
to "make" but you do need to "make install". In particular you only
need to run "make install" in this one directory -- you don't need to
run it from the top-level.
As regards slib:
dpkg -l slib
ii slib 3a2-3 Portable Scheme library
any other ideas?
Try after you install the modified file?
