Does it make sense to backport such changes to the 2.4 branch?

I am asking because I recently uploaded a Debian package for Gnucash
with enabled Python bindings. Another Debian Developer reported
parallel builds to fail with Python bindings enabled, so this could
be of help in the stable branch too...

Yes, that change and r21301 which also affects building with the Python bindings could be backported. They are minor enough that the probability of them causing problems is small especially since they have not effect at all if the Python bindings are not requested.
