Colin There is no reason why the install directory can't just be an ordinary directory. There is no real reason for it to be hidden. It is what I use if I do do a local install. The only possible advantage is that if you can hide the directory it doesn't clutter the view of files when you won't be looking at program files the majority of the time even though you will be using them
