For your encouragement: In the course of the Slashdot thread Jennifer referred to below, the following features were mentioned as the reasons that people were using Quicken instead of Gnucash or some other linux-based financial software (order is not significant).
1. Updating the register online (directly, not via QIF imports) 2. Updating the current price/value of various securities 3. Scheduled transactions 4. Budgeting 5. Business accounting (invoicing, ap, ar) Seems like your work will be appreciated.
