Hi all, I'm writing a companion app for GnuCash on the Sharp Zaurus. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the Zaurus go to http://www.myzaurus.com or http://www.sharp.co.uk/zaurus to find out more.
While I've used a lot of open source software I've never written any myself before, but since my app will be GPL'ed and put into Sourceforge when I get it to a reasonably stable state, is it ok for me to use the same XML file format as GnuCash? The idea is to use the same file format so that it will then be relatively easy for me to write a sync conduit to synchronise the PDA and desktop data files. I use GnuCash on my Linux PC all the time so I've had a look at the data files and it looks relatively straight forward, but it would still help if there were some documentation on the file format. Is there any? Is it using a standard XML schema/DTD?
