The only problem is that it's unlikely the register will actually let you create this transaction, because it usually wont let you enter in a split with zero shares.

I updated the selling stock docs, adding the Brokerage commissions and I added a note mentioning that this bizarre method must be used because of a limitation in the way GnuCash handles changing commodity prices.
