Christoph, Portable apps, I believe, is Windows only; John was working with Linux. But portable apps could help some others. David

Since I am not a Linux guy, I will defer to the comments made here by the others about the difficulties of running an application from removable storage. Gnucash on my mac takes a total of about 175Mb of space. Surely that could fit in the limited space available to you? If that is still a stretch, you can probably delete some of the different language help files; the Japanese docs especially eat up a lot of space. John, be aware that GnuCash always tries to load the last file it had open; if the folder isn't available when you fire it up, you will receive an error.
