Good day.
I have been running GnuCash for 3 ½ years successfully. Great application!
I upgraded to a new PC, saved the entire gnucash library, and copied to the new
PC after installing GnuCash fresh, on Windows 10. The first time I started
GnuCash (and every time since), I get
"GnuCash could not obtain the lock for file: (gives the name of my accounting
file)"
It gives me the options: Open Read-Only Create New File
Open Anyway Quit
I don't want to create a new file, and I want to continue editing the file! So
I use Open Anyway.
The application either then hangs, or receives a Windows Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
error. "The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way".
I am unable to continue using the app until this is resolved. Help!
Mike
There have been some issues with the deployment of GnuCash, particularly
with Win10. The advice from many on this condition is to revert to at
least version 2.6.21, and try the version 3 series again with the
release of version 3.1.
Another choice is to download the latest maintenance version of v3 and
see if that works for you.
