I understood your directory layout and put the newly created css file inside the GnuCash folder.
I’ve been tinkering so much for so long that I agree with you and the best thing to do is just to a complete and full reinstall. THEN add the file as you say. Change the font size by modifying the number 15, then, close and open GnuCash to see the changes.
