You seem to have xim installed as input method. Gtk (the framework gnucash is built on) is known to have issues with this input method. Please switch to another input method. There is a related bug report in our bug database: https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=661915 Or upstream in Gtk: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/61
