There have been some recent problems in reading QIF files that produce errors using GnuCash v3.8 which were not a problem in earlier versions. See recent archives of the GnuCash User mailing list for more info, i.e. this thread (http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com/Re-GNC-dev-GNC-QIF-file-import-failed- but-no-errors-or-warnings-tt4716206.html). That will be fixed in v3.9 so until that is released it may be better to use v3.7 or earlier.
