You make a good point Fred, and I have seen people on this list who keep their GnuCash data in the cloud too.

Although this changes the risk profile, it does not eliminate the need for a backup system.

And asking this question "how do I back-up my gnucash data?" implies a
more serious misunderstanding about using your computer. It isn't just
just gnucash data that needs to be backed up but ALL your user data. And
if you have adopted a plan to back up ALL your user data, gnucash data
would be included in that, so no need to have a back-up plan specific to
gnucash.

You do realise that these days many people do all their email via
webmail, and all their word processing, spreadsheets and so on on Google
Docs or suchlike "in the cloud", and may find that Gnucash is the only
application that keeps their data locally?
