Certainly not a GnuCash problem, but I'd hazard a guess to set up a Scheduled Task to periodically copy over your GnuCash files to the X drive, keeping them somewhere else. That way, the sync never steals ownership while in progress as the file doesn't appear there till the Task puts it there. Set the task to run as often as you are comfortable.

Indeed, there is a tmp file that is left behind.

The problem doesn't impede the functionality.

And sometimes the backup save succeeds anyway.



I'm wondering whether any further action should be taken by me, other than 
dismissing this error and proceeding?
