Hi, Although not specifically a GNC issue, to extend a little on what Alan wrote with regards to Australian invoice requirements, the type of invoice you issue (i.e. 'invoice' versus 'tax invoice') depends on your GST status. If you have registered for GST (your business needs to have an annual GST turnover of $75,000), then your invoices need to specify 'Tax Invoice', but if you are not registered, you should really only have 'Invoice' on your invoices otherwise the recipient will be looking for how much GST you collected on behalf of the government at the end of your invoice and it isn't legally correct.
You can read more at the following link on government requirements regarding invoices: https://business.gov.au/finance/payments-and-invoicing/how-to-invoice. Incidentally, the minimum amount for a tax invoice needing to be issued according to this prior link is $82.50 (including GST), but most businesses just have the wording on everything when they are registered for GST since it is in their software as default wording. And yes as mentioned earlier, it is easy to change the 'Invoice' wording in the settings without having to do it each time in a PDF editor. Additionally, since I also reside in Australia and am not registered for GST, as discussed my invoices only state 'Invoice' to comply with regulations. But after hitting 'Print Invoice', I also click on 'Options' in top toolbar, and under 'Display Columns' tab, I untick the boxes next to 'Taxable' and 'Tax Amount' to make absolutely clear that no GST has been charged to avoid any confusion on the end of the recipient so they know I haven't just accidentally forgotten to charge GST or something along those lines. And I can clarify there is no issue in Australia with having "Tax Invoice" on invoices below $1000. Go to the supermarket or buy fuel and the machine docket will say Tax Invoice no matter what you spend because it will indicate how much , if any, Goods & Services Tax (GST) is included. Lester - the information about your legal requirements with invoicing is readily available - see https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/gst-excise-and-indirect- taxes/gst/tax-invoices#ato-Salesunder1000 Cheers. I then recently installed V5.5 on an Asus notebook operating under Win 11. From the first time of use whenever I used the Vendor's Report GNU Cash closed. It simply exited with no invitation to save, or other warning. It did not close the lock file. To check this I ran GNU Cash with no other apps running. The behaviour was repeated irrespective of the specific vendor, or style sheet used. I have reverted to V5.4. The bug is well-understood; however, the fix is not an easy right now. The reporting interface for Windows in GnuCash V5.5 has been noted to no longer work properly. The developers are working on a solution. The best temporary solution is to re-vert back to V5.4 if you are using Windows and need the reports (just as you have done). -----Original Message----- From: gnucash-user <gnucash-user-bounces+pyz01=outlook....@gnucash.org> On Behalf Of Richard Gaede via gnucash-user Sent: Tuesday, February 6, 2024 2:04 PM To: gnucash-user@gnucash.org Subject: [GNC] Invoking Vendors report causes closure of GNU Cash V5.5 Hi, I have used V5.4 satisfactorily for some while. My point was more around whether there is a specific field in the GnuCash securities setup which if matched with a specific field in the OFX xml would result in the manual click-based becoming unnecessary? I have dozens of bonds in the portfolio which are painful to manually match. But they all have unique identifiers (CUSIPs and IBKR contract ids) which I wish GnuCash could leverage in the matching stage. As of now it does not seem to attempt any type of best guess when a new security is being imported from the OFX.
