That GnuCash Preference setting is definitely worthwhile to turn on. In fact, I've already selected that option. The reason that doesn't really help me though is that you're essentially waiting to get a statement to reconcile before setting a payment amount. That's probably okay if you have only a couple credit card accounts. In my case I'm keeping track of close to a dozen credit cards. (Long story short: The wife and I use different credit cards for different purchase types to get various cash back rewards.) What I really want is to keep track of ALL the account balances in REAL TIME -- not wait for end-of-month statements.
