I am not exactly a new user; I've been using GnuCash for nine years. I was aware that in scheduled transactions, one can have mathematical expressions, but that wasn't quite the issue I bring up: I am often creating a transaction with multiple splits, and every split has the same amount, but each separate transaction has different amounts. I was looking for some way to avoid having to enter the same amount four times. I don't think I can use variables in manual entry, but one suggestion was to use a non-scheduled scheduled transaction; if I put the same variable in each of the entries, I should only be prompted once.
