The column width settings are persistent across re-starts, but they are
per-account. Unfortunately, there is not presently a function to apply
those changes to all or other accounts. (You *can* set the default for
bills/invoices though)
If you don't mind editing the .gcm file by hand, you could conceivably
copy/paste those settings from one account to the others. It may be
possible to perform a 'find/replace-all' to make the process easier, but
I haven't taken a look at the file myself to know if that will work.
Another alternative is to use a scripting language to write the changes.
The advantage here is that every account will have the *exact* same
settings without having to manually drag lines in each one and have them
only similar.

Since I increased the size of the font, the register columns are off when I
first load GnuCash. I know how to adjust them. What I don't know is how to
make these adjustments permanent so I don't have to fool with column widths
each time I open the program.
