Julie, You maybe haven't quite made it to the list yet just to some of us on the list. but welcome anyway.
You can register to the mailing list at https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo by filling out the subscription form there if you haven't done that yet. It is normal practice on mailing lists not to contact individual members of the list at their email address unless specifically asked to do so and to address all communication with the list i.e. to [email protected] not the users. Most email client software have a Reply To LIst or a Reply All option which will do that rather than using the normal Reply to Sender option. If you are getting a blank report coming up, the next step is to select Edit->Report Options from the Menu and set the parameters there to what you want the report specifically to show. Not sure why your system should be freezing up. V5.5 of GnuCash is a little behind the times but AFAIK fully functional. The flathub version available from The Software Manager is usually more up to date than the other version from the Linux Mint repository also listed in the Software Manager. Most reports work that way with the exception of the Account Report that has been the topic of discussion with Jerry. That is not the standard method for restarting Linux MInt. If you click on the LM button at the bottom left of the screen, the main Linux MInt menu should popup and the bottom icon looks like a circle with a short vertical line through the top of it . If you click on that a popup will come up with options to shutdown the computer , restart it, suspend it or cancel out of that dialogue. That is usually a cleaner way to restart it.
