Could you tell me more details about what's installed on the computer? Which version of OSX, and is Xcode installed?
Also, do you have either Fink or Macports installed? (You shouldn't need them.) I notice that your configure reports no gcc. You need a C compiler. You should have one if Xcode is installed.
