However, Gniibe wrote back in 2022 gpg-auth, which is a proper part of GnuPG. This should make it easier to use a token for authentication and drop the need for a password. It needs to be integrated into the display managers. Another idea is to use your tokenized ssh key to open the lock of your entrance door.
