Clearly here it's tied to gtk2 stuff, whereas Qt should be able to be handled by installing the Qt libs directly. Anyway, if it is the C++ thing, then in theory pointing things to /usr/lib/libstdc++* instead of /usr/lib/libc++* should do the trick. It's just that none of the options I tried to pass to LDFLAGS seemed to do anything.
