Could you please update the documentation and the error messages
from gpg1/gpg2/gpgv to be more helpful?

Now I can also reproduce with gpg1/gpg2 verify on encrypted messages,
gpg1 reports "unexpected data", which is a little more helpful than
"unexpected error" from gpg2.
