Comment:
Uninstalled nVidia driver and used "nv" from Xorg instead, but same
problem.
Tried on another machine (IBM Thinkpad T30, ATI Radeon M7, "radeon" Xorg
driver)
and also the same thing -- running Evolution kills Xorg.
Replaced Xorg with Xorg-debug (static Xorg) and problem is gone. Also
ran regular Xorg (non-debug/non-static) under mdb and problem is gone.
So it appears that this is related to Xorg.
