Can you please sumarize what we will find in the HackZone as our community
grows? From browsing the site we get a fair idea of what the HackZone is
but it might be good to note something for the less adventurous browsers
who visit. Links to key places on the main website might also be good to
have within the forums.

Good question.

Essentially, HackZone is the way to contribute to Nexenta OS. i.e.
the way to upload new packages and put some fixes to an existing ones.
It is heavily Subversion-based solution. At this early stage developers need
to know how Subversion works. HackZone Interfaces are not there yet, but we
are working on it. The Interfaces should simplify developers
interoperability in the future.

Read more on HackZone at:

http://www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/HackZone
http://www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/HackZoneInterfaces

Also we have some initial document describing on how to start HackZone
interaction:

http://www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/Getting_Started_for_Developers

Please note, all these documents are pretty much work in progress and are
open for edit for everybody, until we stabilize the procedure.

Ubuntu project uses proven ftp upload schema which is simpler than HackZone
but creates its own difficulties. What we have in mind is to create set
of Nexenta HackZone tools which should simplify HackZone upload process
over time. But nothing stops developers to request HackZoneEntry today and
start committing new packages.

Granted, since HackZone development in progress right now, developers should
try interact via gnusol-devel@ mailing list and NBTS.
