#143: Can't login to mysql as user

Mysql can login only as root. Even if I created user for myself. Root can
log in and see the 'mysql' and 'test' databases, when tryin with 'lion'
(who has 'all privileges on *.* to [EMAIL PROTECTED]') I get:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ mysql -p
Enter password:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (13)
Actually:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log/apache2 # ls -l /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
srwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 0 Jan 11 01:01 /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
