I'd like to comment on this; There are some patches available for IceWM
that were created just recently which are worth looking at.
In fact one is already applied (2 of 3 parts anyway) to icewm-1.2.24
which makes some cosmetic changes to the taskbar.
There's another which turns the feature-less 'desktop-switcher' into
one which turns it into a graphical one. By that I mean it gives you
mini-windows in the buttons complete with active and non-active window
colors. You can toggle the desktop numbers and the button borders.
A third one allows to to have border-less 'toolbar' buttons (including
the window-list and show-desktop buttons) that reveal borders on
mouse-over.
The last one is probably not relevant to most people but, for those who
like to see a frame around the clock, you can now add one to the tray
as well.
After application of these patches the necessary options for them are
included in the config file in the shares directory
(/usr[/local]/share/icewm).
Oh, yes, the same person also made a perl script available to generate a
'recently used' menu entry. This is his version of a python script
found in, IIRC, the menu tool 'IceMC'.
All of the above could be pre-applied for an "experimental" version
(icewm-experimental) for thos who want cool eye-candy.
