For anyone wishing to work on the Gnuspeech port to GNU/Linux and the
Macintosh under OS X, you may be interested in a Turbo NeXT Station
that has become available, as a give-away, with all the original
TextToSpeech Kit software installed.
This provides a canonical form of all the components used in the
development of the original TextToSpeech kits -- the only extant
complete version.
It can be very helpful, when working on the port, to be able to check
the facilities and behaviour of the original.
The unit has 24 MB main memory, 1GB Hard drive (Quantum Fireball
1080S SN A658279) loaded with NeXTSTEP Release 3.3 User and
Developer, plus the Y2K patches that were sent out by Apple, plus a
Megapixel display (that is not prone to the dreaded dimming problem),
plus the CDs for the operating system, patches, and a backup for all
the speech goodies
The machine is in Portland, USA, and you will need to pay for shipping.
