agreed, the thing should work naively by default, and put the burden
of manual configuration/sourcing stuff onto those who want it that
way,

either what Richard did, or by moving 'Tools' out to /usr/bin so
gnustep-config could be found and linking with rpath (this 2nd
solution is unlikely to work for distributions which disallow rpath,
leads to unrelocatable binaries, and i hesitate to recommend rpath as
a solution to anything).
