I didn't have time to try more, but on 64bit windows I rebuilt 
gui/back/thematic using sources checked out a couple of weeks ago, with 
make/base checked out on thursday
Thematic.app ran without problems.
Maybe later I'll try the latest gui/back and/or try a completely clean install, 
but now I have to go do shopping etc.
