My experience has been that this plugin looks for incremental changes of a 
package based on the pattern you feed it.  If you specified a certain major 
version, and you followed semantic versioning you would eventually stop 
seeing those changes once the version passes your pattern.

Your idea would make for a great feature to add to the existing plugin
