I guess one way would be to check the output of: unzip -p agent.jar META-INF/MANIFEST.MF I thought about the agent health API, but it doesn't output the version: https://api.gocd.org/current/#check-agent-server-connectivity One thing to remember is that an agent will not be able to work, unless it is the same version as that of the server.
