Thank you do much Frederick -- and Victor, of course!. I really enjoyed listening to this. What an interesting angle from which to analyse the novel. I think of my own disastrous encounter with Porvorim where villagers came out to attack my agent who was fencing off (prior to sale) a plot of land my father had bought in the 60s or 70s. Another type of encounter between village and the outside world in the fraught conditions of the present! Xxj
