The e-Government Metadata Framework has been officially launched. It was announced in the House of Commons yesterday (see http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk/pa/cm200001/cmhansrd/cm010 503/index/10503-x.htm for the PQ and Ian McCartney's answer). It is available at http://www.govtalk.gov.uk/egif/home.html under 'metadata'. Dublin Core is now the official, mandated standard for metadata for government information, and work is underway to develop the standard further. The development of a Pan-Government Thesaurus has also been mandated. ****************************** The Cabinet Office's computer systems may be monitored and communications carried on them recorded, to secure the effective operation of the system and for other lawful purposes. --- End Forwarded Message --- ---------------------------------------------------- Lorcan Dempsey lorcan.demp...@kcl.ac.uk DNER Director +44 (0)207 848 2937 JISC/DNER Office, 0788 4437982 (mobile) King's College London Strand Bridge House 138 - 142, The Strand, London WC2R 1HH ----------------------------------------------------- http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/ http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/contacts/ld/publications/
