Broker cheated of Rs 2.5 crore;two booked HERALD REPORTER VASCO, MAY 31 – After facing stiff opposition from the public, real estate dealers have begun to feel the pressure from within the fraternity. Verna Police on Saturday booked a case against two real estate dealers from Alto-Dabolim on charges of cheating a New Delhi-based real estate broker to the tune of a staggering Rs 2.51 crore. According to Verna Police, Geetanjali Khosla, a real estate broker from New-Delhi has filed a complaint, accusing Prashant Borkar and Sydney D’Souza, both from Alto-Dabolim, of cheating her to the tune of over Rs 2.51 crore by not paying her brokerage fees. Police said Khosla was involved in a land deal of over 2 lakh square meters at Loliem-Canacona between October 2006 and July 2007. Prior to the deal, there was Memorandum of Understating (MoU) signed between both the accused, also brokers in the land deal, and Khosla, police added. Khosla claimed that Borkar and Sydney had failed pay her the assured commission till date. After obtaining legal opinion in the matter, Verna police registered a case against the accused, Borkar and D’Souza, under Section 420 r/w 120B of IPC and is investigating the case.
