Bandh is not the answer to this problem, but the SPECIAL STATUS TO GOA where
Non-Goans cannot buy Goans Land & Property. And unnecesary creating problems to
Peace-Loving Goans.

I do not agree with you Joe. In fact we need more of this kind of Bandh. Only
then biknakars will stop coming to Goa and invading our land.

We are too peaceful people and everybody has taken an advantage of this
calmness.

Eatery stoned despite security assurances

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Mapusa: Despite strong assurances from the government to provide security to
those wishing to keep their establishments open during Monday’s bandh, the
civil administration in Mapusa failed miserably to ensure the same.
A glaring case of failure was witnessed in Mapusa when police failed to provide
security to the only hotel in the town — Hotel Navtara — which chose to defy
the bandh call and remain open. As a result, the hotel was stoned causing heavy
financial loss es to the owner.
According to hotel owner Carlos Tavora, he left his hotel in Mapusa for Panaji
at 8.15 am. “At around 8.30 am I received a call from my manager saying that a
group of 30 people had entered my hotel in Mapusa and had gone on a rampage
breaking glasses, cutlery etc,” Tavora recounted. He instructed the manager to
keep his cool and inform the police, but advised him not to shut down the hotel
under any circumstances.
“In the meantime, I called up SP Bosco George and kept him informed of the
events,” the hotel owner told TOI.
But on returning to Mapusa, he was stunned to find his hotel closed, despite
instructions to the contrary, only to learn that Mapusa police, instead of
providing security, forced the manager to close the hotel. “Don’t you know it’s
a bandh today? Close the hotel immediately,” was how the cops ordered the
manager, Tavora disclosed.
But Mapusa PI C L Patil refused to be drawn into a controversy. “None of my men
ordered the closure of the hotel,” he told TOI bluntly.
Tavora then ordered the mess to be cleaned and reopened the hotel. However, at
9.30 am, two persons asked him to close the establishment again. But Tavora
refused to shut shop. At 10.30 am SP George along with DySP Sammy Tavares
inspected the hotel. As he was leaving, the SP assured Tavora full security to
his hotel. But by 11.30 am, Tavora had to again close his hotel, on the
instructions of the police to ‘ensure law and order’ in the town.
“I am aware that some mad man has desecrated some shrines. But does that mean
that the whole public must be held to ransom? Tavora asked.
