Here's the recipe of the black cake served at weddings, birthdays and at Christmas time in Daman. This is in response to an email from Mrs. Patricia Carmo, Canada. She ate the cake when on a visit to Daman in 1986 with her husband, Mr. Carmo Colaco. She says she cannot forget the unique taste of the cake made the Damanense way!
She Googled for the recipe and came across the Damanense Recipes page initiate by Lysa Lopes of Sharjah, on the WDD-08 website from where she contacted me and asked for the recipe before Christmas...
Wow! It's going to be the Damanense Black Fruit Cake that will take centre stage on a Christmas dinner table in Canada!!
