How to get online without getting undressed Werner Egipsy Souza heph...@gmail.com
It was a fun discussion. To start off, I walked in with a blindfold, after dressing up, worried that there were actually people undressed. Internet started off as the world's biggest library, hence the need to make information accessible. Goa was a part of this trend from 1994 with Goanet (among others), which started as a bulletin board and today is an extremely vibrant forum with Goans from around the world. The first examples of people to people interaction, was chat, where you first chatted with people you knew, then moved only to chatrooms such as music, films, politics, where you met people you didn't know and added them to your friendlist. The key to social networks, is the Object of interest, where on websites like Ryze and Orkut, it was the guestbook, while on LinkedIn, it is the "Who viewed your Profile" page. In Facebook, it is the timeline, which today is completely controlled by Facebook. In social networks, the conversation between people became more public, where anyone could intrude into a conversation between two people (especially on Twitter). People reveal way too much online today, especially in pictures where despite the fact that they dress very sober in real life, look undressed online, especially in wet clothing (Roce wear :P ) and swimsuits. The key, is to put your best foot forward, by showing your strengths, and never revealing secrets. The best way to respond to uncomfortable comments, is not to respond. Jose Mourinho, is a case in point. Especially with the truly ruthless British press, he has adopted a stand of strongly defending his team and his fan club, with no comments about the other teams and current gameplay, especially after the media blitzkrieg around previous comments.
