Xavier Jose CALDEIRA (b 1947) died
after a brief illness. An obituary in
the magazine he edited said he had
stints at Saligao Seminary (1971),
Carmona (1977), Diocesan Family Service
Centre (1979-83), Fontainhas (1975),
Pastoral Institute (2001), Diocesan
Commission of the Liturgy (2001),
Priestly Meetings Committee (2001),
Commission for Liturgy (2003-6),
Social Communication Media (2008),
Sao Tome, Goa Mission Congress (2008),
and Year of Mercy (2015), besides being
editor of Renewal since 2013.
The tribute commented: "He and hsi younger brother Fr
Cristovam Caldeira, who also passed away in 2011, were the
only sons of their parents and both became priests. A great
example (we have a few more among our diocesan priests) to
the modern generation who are so reluctant to send their boys
to seminary."
