The monsoons, the heavy rainy reason, arrived in Goa on Friday, as
predicted by the weatherman. There are some heavy spells of rain and winds
here, and the weather is expected to be rough for a few days.

There were news reports about temporary flooding in places like Panjim.

weather.com said, in connection with the weather here:
* A cyclonic circulation near Goa will cause threats of
flooding and wind, but the risk is lower than yesterday,
with heavy rain gradually calming down.
* Cyclonic circulation brings heavy rain to southweat India.
* Heavy rain likely in Mumbai for three days.

Watterlogging across Goa as monsoon sets in

collapses in Canacona, traffic diverted

Other news reports spoke of 11 trees being uprooted and
property damaged as rains lash Canacona. One newspaper showed
the leaking roof of a government run school, with children
studying (indoors) with their umbrellas open!

Prior to this, there was a spell of pre-monsoons. That's the time of the
year when it heats up during the day, and precipitates with some
thundershowers on some evenings/nights.

In late May, there were some windy days too, the influence of weather
disturbances in other parts of the subcontinent.

This year, the monsoons have come on time. But more than the monsoon
itself, the scary part of the monsoons here nowadays is the extremities one
sees accompanying it. When it rains, it pours; and then we have dry spells
for quite awhile sometimes.

We're having long 13-hour days here:
Sunrise: 6:03 AM
Sunset: 7:05 PM
