The British Council is pleased to inform you about the De Souza Trust, Goa scholarship which was launched in 1998 to enable a small number of dynamic young men and women of Goan origin, having a demonstrated a track record for excellence in academics or extra curricular achievements, to study or train in the UK. Applicants must be Indian nationals, domiciled and resident in the state of Goa or born of Goan parents. They should have confirmed admission for a study programme or course in the UK for a period not exceeding 12 months. The scholarship will cover full or part tuition fees. Preference will be given to candidates under 35 years of age and with a genuine financial need. Young people with technical/vocational ambitions are also encouraged to apply. Interested applicants should submit a clearly written proposal outlining the programme they wish to follow in Britain, how they propose to put their study/ training to use on their return to India and also provide full details of admission/ placement in Britain. Candidates should also include a complete CV with their application. We should be grateful if you would encourage eligible candidates to apply by publicing this through the web, radio or through the print media. Completed applications should be sent in an envelope superscribed "De Souza Trust" to reach the British Council, Mittal Tower, 'C' Wing, Nariman Point, Mumbai 400 021, no later than 31 May 2002. Short-listed candidates will be informed and invited to attend an interview in June/July 2002, either in Goa or in Mumbai.
