For example the case of reincarnation has been proven over and over again but since it happens to be exactly the opposite of what is preached by the Church and some other religions, it is not recognised. Read "Many Masters Many Minds" by Dr.Brian Weiss to learn more about this. And I read the other day that some historians and scientists now believe that Christ was a Bodhi Satva (which is a leader-teacher of Buddism in Buddha's tradition) and that after his resurrection he returned to Kashmir (which they think is his home place) with his mother and is buried there next to Mother Mary. In fact the person buried in that particular spot is known as a recognised saint in Kashmir as well but under some other name (I forget the name now) . A Western scientist has now requested the current Farooq Abdullah Govt. for permission to exhume the two graves in Kashmir to check the DNA to establish the relation between the two persons buried there. The scientist believes that if this is established, there is sufficient evidence (and I suppose they have some other evidence as well) to prove that the person buried there is indeed Jesus. Needless to say that the Church will never ascribe to this view. However, whether the scientist will ever be able to exhume the graves is debatable because it is heavily opposed by some Kashmiris. And at a yoga lesson I learnt that the Vajrasana, which is the Islamic namaz (prayer) pose is actually a very scientific technique of keeping your spine erect and allowing proper digestion and breathing. It is said that if one practises the Vajrasana regularly during the day (remember namaz is advocated five times a day) one can be free of some 18 diseases. But quite a few of my Muslim friends did not know all this. For them the posture was just another dogma to be followed. And Goddess Kali is much abused with human/animal sacrifices linked to her. She is shown as a fiece woman with necklaces of skulls and holding a severed head in one hand and a sword in the other. The idea of showing this scary figure and linking her to God was to dispel fear and establish only love. Since love and fear are emotions that cannot be applied together. But instead people use Goddess Kali in connection with sacrifices and whatever and little is done to change this. And the old temple custom of giving up your girl child to serve the temple (devdasis) resulted in a flourishing trade of prostituition and female abuse. Don't know who actually preached it but it was certainly encouraged by temple priests. Don't know if this actually has anything to do with the subject, but couldn't resist adding it. I would have thought they would have directed their energies towards consolidating the people of Indian origin to make a force to reckon with. Instead, small minds work over petty issues and they are busy trying to fight themselves over religion. And in the bargain they ridicule the one Muslim person who had the guts to openly tell Imam Bukhari of the Jama Masjid, New Delhi to get lost when he gave a call to Muslims in India to fight the jihad against the Americans in Afghanistan. In fact she said something to the tune of : why doesn't someone do us a favour and air drop him (the Imam) into Afghanistan, so he can fight his jihad and the rest of us can get on with our lives. Of course the Imam could not swallow that and called her a prostitute. And she replied saying if that is the way he speaks about people, his mind has little about Islam in it. Incidentally she is also the lone Muslim woman who had the guts to go on record on television and advocate an uniform civil code rather than the current many religious related personal laws which only serve to divide the Indian people. Okay, I am a big fan of her (she is one of the best actresses in Bollywood and if you have seen "Arth" you will know what I mean) but I do not agree with a lot of things she says especially with her Communist connections. But I have no doubt in my mind that India would be a much better country with a million Shabana's rather than the same of the Imam's or the Singhal's. Anyway, I do agree with Viv's smart democratic comments. For someone who is totally against organised religion, that is very tempting ! ;-) In any case, if all in India gave up their religion, everyone would focus on real issues like the economy, education, infrastructure, health, sanitation, and development. Instead, with the current obsession with organised religion we dig ourselves into a pit. If you can unequivocally refute the factual claims relating to the death of the historical Jesus, then I urge you to take up the matter with historical experts. Present your unequivocal and compelling evidence in refutation, take the consensus of historical scholarship with you, and I will join you gladly. Attempting refutation of conjectures through compelling evidence is Scientific Method. The rest is not. As a Christian, I am not required to believe anything contradicted by evidence. Apr. 12, 2002 at www.goacom.com/goanet-uk 15 April. People Magazine. Dr Richard W. D'Souza wasn't up for an award on Oscar night. But he became one of the evening's big winners after Sandra Bullock stopped for a television interview on the red carpet, held up a package of the Cool Mint Listerine PocketPaks D'Souza invented, and announced, "I love these!" Inspired in 1996 by an edible paper he had seen in Japan, D'Souza, a Pfizer vice president who immigrated to the U.S. from Pakistan in 1978, spent 18 months with a team of dozens of scientists creating the strip. "First it stuck to the roof of our mouths," he says. "Then it was too brittle, and at times it was so strong people's eyes would tear up." Today D'Souza, 47 lives in Randolph, N.J., with his homemaker wife, Venetia, 46, son Russell, 17, and fraternal twins Adrian and Alicia, 16.
