Dear all, There has been some discussion about Darwin on this forum. I thought of what a Goan wrote me regarding Argentina's current plight and Darwin's quote. Here is what my Goan friend wrote:

Darwin witnessed how the Indians were smothered in blood and vomit, how their eyes were gouged and so on. Darwin wrote: "The Indians are so terrified that they offer no resistance... all the women who seemed above 20 are massacred in cold blood. When I exclaimed it was inhuman, the commander answered: what can be done - they breed like flies. Who could believe that such atrocities could be committed in a civilized country?..."
