GOVERNMENT OF INDIA ***** SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY TO BE OPERATIONAL FROM APRIL 2003 Sravana 21, 1924 Panaji ------------------------- August 12, 2002 The new South Western Railway (SWR) is scheduled to be operational from April 2003, with its headquarters at Hubli. According to the notification from Ministry of Railways, the new South Western Zone will comprise of Hubli, Bangalore and Mysore divisions, presently under South Central Railway. As a part of this reorganisation process, the Pune-Miraj-Kolhapur section which is under South Central Railway the moment, will be transferred to the Central Railway, in the form of a new Pune division. According to the Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli, Hubli-Hospet line, the branch line Hospet-Swamihalli-Kottur and Hospet-Bayaluvoddigere sector will form the part of Hubli Division while Guntkal-Bellari-Tornagallu and Tornagallu-Ranjitpura branch line as well as Bellari-Raidurg line will be under complete control of Guntakal division. Until now, these areas were under the duel control.
