NEW KONKANI VIDEO CASSETTE RELEASED IN KUWAIT.
Rafael de Majorda is one of the Konkani Stage Artistes in Kuwait. He has great love for staging Konkani Tiatros. A few years back he staged his maiden show at Funaitees Kuwait with the help of Bombay Boys with great success. In that tiatr he had great distinction of introducing great Lorna first time in Kuwait. “HANV NOKHO ZALOM” was his second presentation in Kuwait which was staged on 26th April with the help of A.V.C. Club (Assolna-Velim-Cuncolim). The Video Cassette of this show was released on 29th August 2002 at 7.00 p.m. at Bollywood Hotel, Kuwait City in the presence of few invitees. The Cassette was released thru the hands of Rafael himself and Xavier of AVC Club. The function was just a mediocre affair even though it could have been organized in a much better way befitting the prestige of Konkani. The guests sitting at the dais were Rafel de Majorda, Frankie Sequeira & Edwin of Bombay Boys, Santan of Entertainment and Cultural Club, Russel & Xavier of A.V.C. During the function Rafael, Frankie, Santan and Russel(in English) spoke in praise of Rafael. To my knowledge this is the first time such a Video Cassette has been released in Kuwait. The cassette consists of few interesting items. The comedy performed by Shelly, Jannet and comedian Jesus was hilarious. Among this trio comedian Jesus excelled more, he proved to be very serious in his acting. Nustemkarn duet by husband and wife Wilmix and Sharon was excellent, Sharon brought an extra glamour to this duet with her beautifully wore Gagra and Blouse purely like a genuine Nusterkan. The trio rendered by Cajetan-Marcus-Mario hitting hard those Goans who discriminate against Goans was a good composition. In this song they show how Goans are working against Goans unlike Keralites. As a matter of fact Mario and Cajetan de Sanvordem are two of the persons responsible in real life to support discriminations against Goans that is against their own Goan tiatrists. They are the office bearers of Kuwait Tiatristanchi Sonvstha which was formed not to unite Tiatrists but to divide tiatrists and a man like Mario of late acting like Dr. Jackeyl and Mr. Hyde is supporting this move of division is surprising. They harp from the stage for justice but in reality they are cunning and that Mario and company are cunning was known from the fact that they are the office bearers of the Sonvstha that was formed to create division not only among the Tiatrists but also among the Goans. William de Curtorim in his highly sensitive worded political solo criticizes Indian and Goan politicians, calling India as cursed nation. About Goan politicians he disgraces both Luizinho Faleiro and Churchill Alemao and that this view of his was liked by the audience was known from the applause he received. He even says in this song that Goan politics was disgraced by both the Saxtikar Kumar. Master Jonathan the lovely son of comedian Mario failed in his role as he was not properly trained neither by the director nor by his father who was more interested in supporting the discriminatory Tiatristanchi Sonvstha which is created by Jose Rod to fulfill his nasty ambition of challenging the unchallenging people by introducing the anti-tiatr code “To Aslear Aum Nachona”. Otherwise Master Jonathan is a good child artiste if he is given proper direction and guidance. While speaking it looked he was reading from the book and his Konkani accent was not very much polished. Responsible persons are guilty of his downfall. The introductory opening chorus by Sanny De Quepem gave extra push for this show even though I understood from reliable source that architect of “To Aslear Aum Nachona” Sonvstha tried his level best to drop this item purely out of envy. This architect is so jealous of upcoming and smart tiatrists that to fell them he will go to any extent as he went in forming the “Sonvstha of To Aslear Aum Nachona” to put down good tiatrists. Jane the “disafinar” item of Sonvstha also played her mediocre role but if proper attention was given she could have done still better. She lacked clarity in her terminology. Unfortunately, there was not a single “Canto” in the entire play. Some of the items shown during the live show were found missing in this Cassette. During the interval prizes were distributed to some of the artistes thru the hands of chief guest one Mr. Benny Paes an old timer Goan but whose contribution in the cause of Goan affairs is almost NIL. We Goans in Kuwait organized for the cause of Goa and Konkani innumerable activities namely in 1975 initiation of Konkani movement - In 1976 Cancer Hospital Fund Drive – In 1978 Novem Goem Pratisthan – In 1979 Sour Ground Soccer - In 1984 Direct Flight Kuwait to Goa Campaign – During the invasion of Kuwait, in Goa, support liberation of Kuwait movement – After the liberation in Kuwait POWs movement. Was this man anytime involved with Goans in supporting the above mentioned causes? If not then it was wrong to introduce him as great Goan and those who fail to speak in Goan language during Konkani functions are not genuine Goans, I am not proud of them. They are fake Goans. Good that they are not Oxford or Harward Graduates. It was very pathetic to see the compeering of the prize distribution ceremony done in British language by the president of Goan Association of A.V.C. It was very surprising to see Rafael boycotting Kuwait Tiatristanchi Sonvstha for this function when he himself was part and parcel of this Sonvstha on the inception day. I am sure Rafel like many others have realized their folly of attending the first meeting of discriminatory Sonvstha. With some flaws here and there, Rafael De Majorda should be complimented for bringing out this show in Video Cassette form as well as CD. It is available with Rafael de Majorda. A.
