CONVENTION OF OVERSEAS GOANS

The NRI Goa Facilitation Centre is organizing a Convention of Overseas Goans
on Sunday, 29th December, 2002 at Kala Academy, Campal, Panaji, to discuss
issues pertaining to Goan NRIs spread all over the world. The Convention
will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Goa and is being organized
during the festive week, so as to enable maximum number of Goan NRIs
visiting Goa, during the festive season, to participate.

It may be recalled that the Government of Goa has formed a Committee under
the Chairmanship of Shri Chandrakant Keni to evolve various welfare schemes
for Goan NRIs. The other tasks assigned to the Committee are to register all
NRIs of Goan origin and to set up a comprehensive data bank of the same and
to channelise entrepreneurship skills and resources of NRIs to give a boost
to the Goan economy , and to operate schemes for the benefit of the NRI
community as declared by the Government and also to ensure adequate measures
for protection to land holdings and properties of NRIs of Goan origin.

The setting up of NRI Goa Facilitation Centre which is functioning from EDC
House was the first step taken by the Committee to channelise issues
pertaining to Goan NRIs through this Centre.

The organizing Committee is in the process of finalizing programme for the
Convention which will mainly focus on what benefits Government, other
Corporations, Banks etc want to give to NRIs and at the same time to
understand what NRIs expect from these agencies.

A social security scheme formulated specially by the Government for the
benefit of Goan NRIs, in collaboration with the New India Assurance Company
Limited, will also be launched on the occasion . The Scheme envisages triple
cover for NRIs as well as their family members.

Participation for the convention will be by registration and the organizers
have requested desirous NRIs and others to register their names with the NRI
Goa Facilitation Centre on Telephone No. 2227608 or by e-mail at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] before 24th December, 2002.

09.30 hrs to 10.30 hrs : Inaugural Session
Chief Guest : Hon. Chief Minister of Goa.
10.30 hrs to 10.45 hrs : Tea Break

10.45 hrs to 11.45 hrs : Plans & Programmes of Government of Goa,
Government Corporations, Banks, Insurance Companies etc., for NRIs.
o Power Point presentation of the Social Security Scheme.
o Presentation of Schemes of NRI- Goa Facilitation Centre, Government Corporations, Banks etc.
11.45 hrs to 12.00 hrs : Interaction

SESSION � II
12.00 hrs to 01.00 hrs : Expectations and suggestions of NRIs from Government of Goa and
other agencies.
� Speeches and presentations by representatives of NRIs from different countries.
01.00 hrs to 02.00 hrs : Lunch Break

SESSION - III
