.........cont from 1/ Visitors will have a unique opportunity of viewing and buying art in heritage houses, with a backdrop of some exquisite Indo-Portuguese furniture. There will also be street exhibitions and workshops conducted by artists where the members of the public will be invited to participate. Cartoonist Alexys has offered to do caricatures of anyone who is game. A mix of traditional, folk as well as contemporary music and dance performances at various times of the day with visitors being able to experience these as they walk through the historic precinct visiting the art galleries. This will be followed by evening music on one of the main squares in Fontainhas. The Fontainhas Festival will also have cafés and restaurants and along with the permanent restaurants will provide a wide range of local culinary experiences with seating spilling out onto the streets and squares under colourful parasols. The Festival will also provide an opportunity to give a facelift to the façades of some houses. The Panaji Municipal Council is taking this opportunity to redo the footpaths, resurface the roads, whitewash some home facades and in general spruce the area in time for the Festival. The area of the Festival will be in Fontainhas from the Corte de Oietero junction to the junction near old Mustifund School. Parking for coaches and cars will be provided at the Patto complex across the walkway from the New Patto Complex. Local residents will be given paper stickers for their vehicles so as not to inconvenience them. The Festival will be best enjoyed on foot. All galleries will remain open from 10 am to 6 pm. Major performances will start at 8 pm and end at 10 pm. For the first time in the country, private homes will be turned into art galleries between 25th January and 2nd February 2003 in a unique experiment that will bring heritage homeowners closer to the art community. posted for GHAG
