Mr Fernandes told a press conference here on Tuesday, that he was being targeted particularly because he is leading the resistance to the water sports project at the Coco beach, Nerul, and another project at Aguada in his constituency. Mr Fernandes disclosed that the Tourism Director, N Suryanarayan, has issued him a notice for removal of name and cancellation of registration certificate of his hotel Silver Sands at Candolim for contravention of CRZ notification. In his notice, sent under Section 10 of the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982, Mr Suryanarayan cites violations of CRZ notification of 1991, ostensibly reported to him by the Coastal Zone Management Authority (CZMA), Mr Fernandes said. The Calangute MLA termed as "without jurisdiction" the Tourism Director's notice, which is dated January 21, 2003 and sent to him by registered post. He said, under the Tourism Trade Registration Act, the prescribed authority is not empowered to cancel registration for CRZ violations.
