Passing along someone-else's chronicle

It is always a pleasure to read a good narrative for linguistic style
and contents. If it has information of benefit to Goans or connected to
Goa, it is still better. Even when one does not agree with the
thoughts, a good account can be intellectually very stimulating. That is
the whole basis of a cyber chat. The following remarks are not about the
good stories that are often passed along on Goanet.

Goacom cyber gives an individual a sneaky opportunity to present their
bizarre thoughts or allegedly somebody-else's uncanny writings to the
rest of us. However their e-mail address should allow us to zap it back
to them and question their intellectual integrity or more bluntly their
brainpower.

When a cyberGoan passes an article for the rest of us to peruse, at
least stand behind the account instead of introducing the article with a
caveat and then ingenuously hiding behind someone-else' one-sided
account of blab, gossip and scandal. If you are uncertain of the
veracity of the story, the motives of the author or the authenticity of
its contents, err on the side of caution and your better reasoning.

This commentary is not a call for censorship. Along with freedom and
democracy, comes individual responsibility to maintain a standard and
decorum out of sheer respect, sensitivity and decency to oneself and
other participants on the chat line.
Regards, GL
